What is the Age Limit for KRCL Apprentice Trainee Recruitment 2026-27?
The age limit is 18 to 25 years as on 01.01.2026, i.e., candidates must be born between 01.01.2001 and 01.01.2008. Upper age relaxation of 5 years is available for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates, subject to submission of the required documents at the time of document verification.
Other Eligibility Conditions
- Candidates must have a valid, approved NATS ID at the time of document verification.
- Only candidates who passed out within the last 5 years (2021 to 2025) will be considered.
- Candidates should satisfy the minimum standard of physical fitness prescribed for the training and produce a medical certificate certified by a Government Doctor (not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon).
- Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act, 1973, in any Government/PSU/Private organization are not eligible to apply.

The KRCL Stipend 2026-27 is disbursed through a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism, combining the Government of India’s share and KRCL’s Establishment share.

KRCL Apprentice Trainee Selection Process 2026-27
The KRCL Apprentice Trainee Selection Process 2026-27 works as follows:
- Merit List: Total marks obtained across all years/semesters will be summed up to arrive at an aggregate percentage. No rounding off or weightage to any particular semester/year will be given.
- Tie-Breaker: In case of equal marks, the older candidate will be selected. If the date of birth is also the same, the candidate who passed matriculation earlier will be preferred.
- First Preference: Land loser candidates — those whose land was acquired for the Konkan Railway Project (including spouse, son, unmarried daughter, paternal grandson, and paternal unmarried granddaughter of the land loser) — will be given first preference.
- Second Preference: Candidates belonging to KRCL jurisdiction districts — Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg (Maharashtra); North Goa and South Goa (Goa); and Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada (Karnataka) — will be given second preference.
