About NHRC Summer Internship 2025
The National Human Rights Commission of India (NHRC) is a statutory public body formed under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. One of its roles is to promote awareness and protect human rights across the country.
To meet this goal, NHRC conducts Summer and Winter Internship Programmes every year. These internships have been running successfully since 1998 and are known for offering insightful, interactive learning experiences to students from various academic backgrounds. This year’s Summer Internship Programme (SIP) will run from 16th June to 11th July 2025.

Who Can Apply for National Human Rights Commission NHRC Summer Internship 2025
The NHRC SIP 2025 is open to students from across India. Here are the eligibility details:
Educational Background:
- Students who have completed 1st year and are now in 2nd or 3rd year of 3-year LLB course.
- Students in the 4th or 5th year of 5-year BA LLB or equivalent law courses.
- Students pursuing LL.M. or Post Graduate Diploma in Human Rights.
- Final year PG students from fields such as:
- Political Science
- Sociology
- Social Work (MSW)
- Criminology
- Public Administration
- Rural Development
- History, Economics, Commerce
- Anthropology
- Mass Communication
- International Relations
- Any Social Science stream
Other Requirements:
- Should be a student of a regular course from a UGC-recognized university.
- Must have at least 65% marks in Class 12 and all semesters thereafter.
- Age limit: Not more than 28 years as on 1st May 2025.
- Should not have attended any previous regular NHRC Summer or Winter Internship.

Selection Criteria
Selection is competitive and based on merit. Applicants must submit a 300–500 word write-up (Statement of Purpose) on the topic “Reason for joining as Intern in NHRC”. The total evaluation will be out of 100 marks:
- Class 12 Marks: 30 Marks
- Graduation Marks: 40 Marks
- Statement of Purpose: 30 Marks
Preference will be given to students who show interest or research potential in human rights issues.

During this four-week internship, students will attend 70–75 sessions and engage in various activities that cover wide areas of human rights. The course structure includes:

Interactive Sessions with the Chairperson and Members of NHRC
Research Projects on real-life human rights issues
Book Review Assignments
Documentary Screenings and Group Discussions on topics like:
