Nationality:
Must be a bonafide Gurkha and inhabitant of Nepal or India.
Gurkha candidates residing in India: Must have a Residential Certificate issued by D.M./A.D.M./Tahasildar and a Certificate of a bonafide Indian Gurkha from a recognized organisation.
Gurkhas of Nepal: Must possess valid Citizenship of Nepal.
Educational Qualification:
Must have passed Class VII or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Preference to candidates who have passed H.S.C. or equivalent examination. Marks awarded:

- H.S.C. 2nd Division – 12 marks
- H.S.C. 3rd Division – 10 marks

Odisha Police Selection Process 2025
The selection process will include the following stages:
Physical Measurement: Height, Weight, Chest measurements as per standards; height marks awarded from 0 to 8 marks. Minimum weight: 50 kg. Chest: 79 cm unexpanded, 84 cm expanded (5 cm expansion).
Physical Test:
- 1.6 km run (within 4 mins = 1 mark; 4–6 mins = qualify only)
- 5 km cross country (within 40 mins = qualify)
- Broad Jump (3.66 m in 3 chances; 1st clearance = 2 marks; 2nd = 1 mark)
- High Jump (1.22 m in 3 chances; 1st clearance = 2 marks; 2nd = 1 mark)
Sports Marks: Recognized sports achievements in specific events (Athletics, Football, Boxing, etc.) will carry up to 10 marks depending on level (district, state, national, international).
Viva-Voce: Candidates qualifying in the physical tests will appear for viva-voce (10 marks).
